MP Steve Brine stops by to show his support.
AN EXPLOSION in membership has seen Winchester become home to the largest female football club in Hampshire.
Such is Winchester City Flyers' rate of growth, they are now in search of new home.
From 35 female members in 2009, the club now boasts 140 players, with Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine backing their search for a new ground.
Mr Brine said: “I am so proud to have such a vibrant girls football club in my constituency and I was very interested to hear first hand their hopes and plans for the future. "I know the club is seeking to realise their dream of a permanent home so they can take the club to the next level and will do all I can across the city to help them achieve this."
Tony Panteli, of Winchester City Flyers, said: “The growth of the Flyers in recent years has been truly phenomenal.”
Established in 1996, the club runs teams from under-8s up to a full adult's XI.
