POLICE are warning people to be on their guard following a spate of thefts in the Chilworth area during a two-day period.

A bicycle worth £200 and a petrol-driven Honda lawnmower were taken from a shed in the garden of a home in Chilworth Road, Chilworth, some time between Tuesday, October 9, and the following day.

A back garden shed of a property in nearby Chilworth Close was also raided between Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11 and two mountain bikes, worth a total of £900, were taken.

One cycle was a purple and mauve Specialized woman’s model worth £400 and the other a grey Specialized Hard Rock man’s bike.

Another bicycle, a pink Optima mountain bike, valued at £120, was taken from a shed in Woodside, between Wednesday, October 10, and Friday, October 12.

Thieves also got into an office in the house of a property in Green Lane and stole a external computer hard drive worth £50, two mobile phones, with a combined value of £80, plus an undisclosed amount of cash, during the afternoon or early evening of Thursday (October 11) afternoon and early evening.

Police said residents should be vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles or people not normally seen in the area.
