Winchester City Council has pledged its support for local entrepreneurs.

The council last month signed up to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) ‘Champion for Real-Life Entrepreneurs’ campaign.

Cllr Robert Humby, deputy leader and portfolio holder for the economy, said: “Winchester City Council is fully committed to encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation within our District.

“Our vision for a prosperous local economy is of a dynamic and creative Winchester District, in which traditional assets and qualities underpin innovation and entrepreneurship.”

He added: “On a more pragmatic level I am also very keen to meet local businesses to share views and ideas on how we can create the right environment for entrepreneurship in the District.”

David Webb, FSB Central South Hampshire Branch chairman said: “Small businesses are vital to our economy and it is imperative we recognise their importance so I am delighted that Winchester City Council have committed to helping us in our cause.”
