BILLED as ‘the world’s biggest coffee morning’, Winchester’s Discovery Centre joined thousands of people throughout the country by holding a Macmillan coffee morning.

The event was in support of the Macmillan nurses who care for cancer patients.

On the morning of September 28, people popped into the centre for a coffee and slice of homemade cake, with first and second place prizes awarded for the 'most yummy cake'.

Organiser Jade Merritt said: "I did the event for Macmillan as the heartache that cancer causes is very close to my heart. Cancer has affected both mine and friends' families.

"The event went very well and it was busy and hustling and bustling."

The event on Jewry Street also featured a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

The morning was described as a tremendous success and managed to raise £156.
