POLICE have arrested two 13-year-old boys from Winchester on suspicion of arson following a barn fire near South Wonston.

The fire which started at around 10.30pm on Friday caused damage estimated at £100,000 at the building on Stainers Lane.

The boys have been released on police bail until November 19.

Detectives are appealing for information. Det Con Elaine Cawkill  said: “There have been a number of occasions recently where teenagers have been seen in and around barns in the local area.  Earlier on during the evening of the fire, a number of youths were seen in a nearby barn after the owner caught them inside.”
