Five-figure boost from Naomi House open day and fete

MORE than 1,000 people flocked to Naomi House and jacksplace for its annual open day and fete.
The weather may have been growing ever more autumnal during the preceding days, but Saturday brought glorious sunshine.
The park and ride service of vintage buses was in continual use, transporting supporters and curious members of the public to Sutton Manor at Sutton Scotney near Winchester.
Ex-Saints footballer Graeme Le Saux officially opened the event, chatting to fans and posing for photos before taking a tour of the hospice buildings.
The day raised over £12,000 for the hospice which needs £5 million a year to provide its free services to life-limited children and young people from across the South.
Chris Robinson, chief executive, said: “I am delighted that so many people came to support us and learn about our work, and we are very grateful to the dedicated volunteers whose help was instrumental in making today a success.
“We raised a lot of money for the hospice, and we hope that today has done just as much to raise its profile. We depend largely on the generosity of individuals and community groups for our existence, so it is essential that we are a visible presence, and that people understand what we do.”
