A CHANDLER’S Ford man has been charged with possession with intent to supply both class A and class B drugs along with a drug that is temporarily banned.

Alex Pearson, 20, of Nichol Road, was due to appear before Southampton Magistrates Court on Monday, September 24.

The drugs involved are cannabis, ecstasy and a drug subject to a temporary banning order methoxetamine.

The charges follow his arrest back in June by officers investigating the death of 19-year-old Doug Ferguson, of Cranford Gardens, Chandler’s Ford.

Although Pearson was arrested during this investigation police say the charges are not directly linked to Mr Ferguson’s death.

Mr Ferguson became unwell at an address in Heathfield Road, Chandler’s Ford, and the ambulance service called in the police.

He died at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester that day. A post mortem proved inconclusive and results are awaited to further tests.

A 17-year-old male who was also arrested as part of the investigation has since been released without charge.

The IPCC were informed as a result of police contact in the incident. The independent investigation is looking at the circumstances surrounding police involvement with the deceased from the point officers arrived at the address on Wednesday, June 27.
