THE second annual Stockbridge fun run has doubled the money raised from last year’s event.

Two-hundred-and-three people took part in the Stockbridge 10K race last Sunday, up from around 110 last year.

Although money is still being counted, it is understood to have raised at least £4,000.

The money will be equally divided between Stockbridge Pre-school and Friends of St Peter’s Church. Andrea Zanchi, one of the organisers of the event, said it went extremely well.

Mrs Zanchi, of Trafalgar Way, Stockbridge, said: “We were really pleased with the turnout. We almost doubled the number of people taking part so that was great to see.”

The route stretched through the Test Valley Way, starting and finishing in Trafalgar Way.

Mrs Zanchi added: “Everyone had a great time and we had some really lovely weather. “The first man to cross the line did so in 37 minutes while the first woman crossed it in just over 42 minutes.”

The event also included a charity 2k race.
