AN Alresford shop worker is hanging up his apron after 50 years’ service.

Barry West, 65, has left Alresford Co-op branch on West Street after working for the business in the town since the 1960s.

The Co-op organised a party at the town’s Swan Hotel as a token of appreciation.

Stuart Heaton, Co-op area operations manager, said: “We are very proud to have had Barry, not only the Co-op but also Alresford the town.

“His loyalty and commitment to the store and the town has been fantastic and very rare these days,” added Mr Heaton.
