Olympic legacy for Winchester torchbearers
SOME did it with photos, some with videos.
But these two Hampshire Olympic Torchbearers chose to mark their achievement literally – with a tattoo.
But shortly before their relay they designed a commemorative tattoo with Winchester artist Rob Barfoot, of Destiny Tattoo, Stockbridge Road.
Mr James, 44, said: “I said we should try and mark the occasion and Rob and I put our heads together and thought the tattoo would be a good idea.”
Mr Whittington added: “I have been tattooed by Rob [Barfoot] before so I said we should go to him and it worked out great. We were very happy with the design.”
Mr Barfoot, who has worked in Winchester for 11 years, said: “I was chuffed with the design and I was really happy to do it. It’s great because it’s a runner but it also spells out 2012.”
The torchbearers both work for Batleys Cash and Carry and were nominated to carry it by a colleague for raising money for breast cancer and MS charities over the past 10 years.
