ROMSEY’S tourist information office is set to serve the entire Test Valley Area after Andover’s office closed on April 1.
A special hotline to the Romsey office will be set up at the Andover’s arts centre, The Lights, which will became one of six “tourist information points” in the borough.
Test Valley Borough Council says the change comes amid a falling government grant and the trend to book more online. Peter Giddings, the council’s economic portfolio holder said: “The council is committed to promoting tourism and attracting visitors and we are adapting to the new circumstances in a way that gets a strong welcoming message out to visitors.”
Managing-director for Tourism South East, Peter Colling, said: “Romsey Tourist Information Centre has proved a great success and we want to build on this.”
