ALRESFORD residents held a street party to celebrate news that poor road surfaces outside their homes will be restored.

Householders in Bridge Road joined councillors Jackie Porter, Margot Power and Simon Cook last Friday afternoon.

Cllr Porter said: “It was a great opportunity to celebrate that the county council is finally doing something here. We have been campaigning not just for resurfacing but for repairs to the substrate of the road: this work is repairing all the broken services under the road before a new surface goes down.”

She said the campaign would continue to ensure that footways are also repaired.

“This is daft. The public will see it as a waste of money if the two aren’t done together. The tree roots in this road are a real trip hazard: one lady has broken her arm as a result of a fall on the roots and this work could have solved the problem.”
