A MEON Valley MP has been voted onto the executive of 1922 committee of Conservative MPs.
MP George Hollingbery said he was “thrilled” to take his place on the 90 year-old committee, whose primary function is to keep the leadership of the party informed of the mood of backbenchers.
It meets each Wednesday to discuss upcoming parliamentary business and other topical issues.
Mr Hollingbery said: "I'm thrilled to be on the executive of such an important and historic committee and it's especially pleasing that I was voted on to it by my fellow backbench MPs.
"I now look forward to repaying the trust that my colleagues have placed in me as I get to grips with my new role."
