Fergus Thomson (centre) celebrating his fifth birthday party with friends on a special park and ride service in Winchester
SOME parents might hire a hall for a children’s party, but not usually a park and ride bus.
Yet that is exactly what happened for Fergus Thomson’s fifth birthday.
The youngster, who has a fondness for the “big green buses” in Winchester, was joined by 14 friends.
Stagecoach provided the special service from the outskirts to the city centre and back again.
The firm’s operations manager Tom Waterhouse also gave the youngsters goodie bags for the trip.
While in the city centre, Fergus and his friends dined at the Dim T restaurant in Jewry Street.
The birthday boy’s mum, Jo, from Fleet, said: “It was very kind of everyone involved to arrange the bus.
“Fergus is fascinated by all forms of public transport and one of his favourite days out is when we go shopping in Winchester on the green park and ride bus.”
