Winchester residents joined one man’s marathon quest to walk across the nation last weekend.
Phil Packer MBE walked ten miles in Winchester as part of his 2012 miles in 2012 challenge.
Mr Packer suffered spinal chord damage in 2008 and was told he was unlikely to ever walk again but has since been calling on the public to join him in raising £15m to build a ‘centre of inspirational excellence’ to help young people overcome adversity.
His route started at Winchester Rugby Club at River Park, walking via the cathedral before ending back at the rugby club. He was also joined by members of Hampshire Fire & Rescue.
He will continue to tour the country throughout the rest of the year, finishing in London in December.
