DIFFERENT faiths will be united in song as a free event returns for a second year.

The Space for Peace event, a Winchester Cathedral, on January 26, will bring together nearby and national choirs, community choirs and school choirs to sing from Jewish, Christian, other faiths and secular sources to create a musical vigil for peace.

The music theme is Listen for Peace and will come from a wide variety of religious and secular sources.

Devised by a Professor of Applied Music from the University of Winchester, choral and religious groups will be situated around the Cathedral, each with their own repertoire of musical material, and each will choose when to sing or be invited to sing by the congregation.

A number of pieces may be performed simultaneously in various areas of the cathedral.

The congregation will move around the building, lighting candles, praying and participating.

The event runs from 7pm to 9.30pm and there will a collection for the St Ethelburga’s Centre for Peace and Reconciliation.
