IT may be cold outside, but students will be bringing a taste of California as they take on the latest surfing craze.
Street surfing is among a number of new activities now open to students at Peter Symonds College, in Winchester, as part of the student timetable in addition to their academic studies.
Street surfing is the latest craze from California, a combination of snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing and will run this Spring term for 10 weeks.
Other new activities include viking chess or kubb, a lawn game with strategy, which is a combination of bowling and horseshoes and latin-inspired dance fitness craze Zumba.
Students must choose one activity from the list each term with opportunities ranging from knitting to volunteering, or recreational basketball to debating.
The idea is for students to expand their experiences beyond the academic and try something new.
