HE is the small bear with a big following, at least at one of Winchester’s main bookshops.
Copies of Binky’s Big Adventure are outselling the latest hardback from Jamie Oliver at Waterstones in the Brooks Centre.
To celebrate the feat, Binky visited the store for a book signing on Saturday (October 22).
To avoid wear and tear on his paws, copies were inscribed by his creators Liz Nankivell and Moira Blackwell.
The Alresford-based writing duo set the children’s picture book exclusively in the town and launched it earlier this year.
Since then it has attracted a celebrity endorsement from June Whitfield and the first run of 2,000 books has sold out.
The writers are now working on a follow up where the dapper bear in his green waistcoat will be visiting Winchester.
As for his current adventure, copies are on sale at Waterstones in the Brooks Centre, and its branches in Alton and Basingstoke.
It can also be bought in Alresford at Caracoli, The Long Barn, Laurence Oxley and Oakleaf Stationery.
