Alresford shooters raise £4,000 for Help for Heroes

A CHARITY clay pigeon shoot near Alresford has raised more than £4,000 for Help for Heroes.
The fourth annual Bishop’s Sutton Clay Pigeon Shoot on Sunday attracted more than 100 guns to Sutton Manor Farm.
Numbers were boosted this year by a group of air cadets from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Clay Target Team.
After the competition the prizes were handed out at the village pub, the Ship Inn.
Field Marshall the Lord Vincent, who celebrated his eightieth birthday a short while ago, made a brief address and presented the awards.
Winner of the SSAFA Rustics Cup was Gary Russell of Bishop’s Sutton, the Ship Shield was presented to Phil Catling and the Ladies Trophy went to Jane Catling, both from Winchester. The H4H Junior Challenge Trophy, for those under the age of eighteen went to Max Armistead from Medstead. Walking away with the team trophy were Stuart Butler, Richard Pearce and Chris Curtis shooting as the “Dunc’s Boys” Team.
