SOME of the world’s most famous characters came to life at a school near Winchester last week (Fri March 4).

Harry Potter, Noddy and Where’s Wally all went back to school as part of Kings Worthy Primary’s World Book Day celebrations.

Children were invited to dress up as their favourite characters and share their favourite books with their classmates, as well as try their hands at writing their own stories.

The school had dedicated all week to books, with best-selling author Jeremy Strong visiting on World Book Day itself on Thursday, March 3.

Mr Strong, author of My Brother’s Famous Bottom and The One Hundred Mile an Hour Dog, helped the children with ideas for their stories and answered questions about his own.

The school also took part in a bring-and-buy book sale every day of the week to raise money for Book Aid International, while children enjoyed plenty of other book-related activities like quizzes, crosswords and a bookmark designing competition.
