A Winchester artist will show off her work to 25,000 people this week at an exhibition in London.

Siobhan Barr, who lives in Harestock, Winchester, is being featured at the ‘Art Star Superstore’ project at the London Art Fair this week.

The project is set out in the shape of a supermarket aisle as a comment on criticism that art fairs are more about money than creativity.

Miss Barr said: “I advocate fun art, and consider my practice to be playful, cheeky and unpretentious. I believe that, as creators and consumers of art, we are perhaps brainwashed to accept that only the solemn and serious is great and valuable.”

Miss Barr specialises in text art and studied at Winchester School of Art 2003-2006. She has lived in Winchester ever since and has had her work exhibited in Winchester, Southampton and London.

She added: “I enjoy using text in my work, as I perceive to be a confident and no-frills approach, as well as being more accessible to people who may feel alienated by contemporary art.”
