POLICE have launched an investigation after a Salisbury teenager was assaulted in Romsey.

Officers say a male followed a group of five other men along the town’s Broadwater Road and chatted to them before becoming “confrontational”.

He followed the group to an address at Southampton Road where the alleged assault on the 19-year-old happened during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police say the victim suffered minor injuries in the alleged attack.

The suspect had been seen in the Tavern pub on Friday evening say the police.

After the assault, the man left the scene and returned with what the police say was a “large rock” and hurled it through the rear window of a BMW.

The suspect is described as white, aged 20 to 25 and about 5ft 7ins tall. He had short dark spiky hair, was clean shaven and of a skinny build. He was wearing a white hooded top with black markings, black trousers and black shoes.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call PC Robert Volpe at Romsey Police Station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
