PLANNERS have approved what are believed to be the biggest wind turbines in Hampshire on rolling downland near Winchester.
City councillors backed the scheme for three 25-metre turbines between Crawley and Sparsholt and heard that other similar schemes across the district are likely in the future.
The applicant, Kirton Farm Nurseries, says it will use the trio of turbines, around 80 feet high, to generate electricity and make its plant-growing operation more sustainable.
But some local people objected to the proposal saying it would wreck the countryside, drive down property prices and set a dangerous precedent.
