BOYS have the chance to sing with the Winchester Cathedral to see if they would like to audition for the church’s famous choir.

The cathedral will be opening its doors on Saturday October 2 to any boys aged between six and ten who enjoy singing.

They will have the rare opportunity to sing with the world-famous Cathedral Choir during Evensong, led by director of music, Andrew Lumsden. Earlier in the afternoon, there will be time to play football and explore the adventure playground at Pilgrims’, the cathedral school.

More formally, the boys will receive some singing tuition alongside the existing choristers from the Cathedral Choir’s vocal coach - Hilary Jones, and have a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes. Parents and friends are all invited to tea in the Cathedral and to attend Evensong.

The formal auditions are on Saturday November 13, but this is a really good opportunity to find out what it might all be about.

This event is free but early booking is recommended because places are limited.
