STEVE Brine is hoping a cancer charity will enjoy the fruits of his labour tomorrow.

Winchester’s MP has organised a special strawberry tea event in the city centre to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. BBC prsenter Sally Talor will be among the guests.

Businesses in The Square will be selling strawberry-themed treats from 2.30-4pm.

Mr Brine said: “In spite of all the high profile campaigns and fundraising of recent years, we still lose 12,000 women each year in this country to breast cancer and the disease sadly affects many of my constituents locally. “I attended a strawberry tea hosted by Breast Cancer Care in Parliament recently and I was determined to host one in Winchester to raise money for them. “I have been blown away by the response of the traders in The Square and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for supporting this event.

“I hope as many local people as possible will drop by to support us and enjoy a tasty afternoon treat at the same time!”
