Loyalty scheme is expanding

A LOYALTY card that promotes independent traders in Winchester and Alresford is set to expand.

Henry Cartwright, who launched the Gift Horse Card in May, has now signed up 25 stores and cafés to the scheme.

Those to join within the last month include the Rimjihm and Porterhouse restaurants in Winchester near the Theatre Royal.

Clothing retailer Anokhi in High Street and Café Centro in St George’s Street have also signed up.

Mr Cartwright, from St James Terrace in Winchester, said that his brother, James, was now helping him to expand the scheme.

Cards have already gone on sale in Salisbury, and they hope to bring the concept to Eastleigh and Basingstoke later this year.

The scheme works by customers buying a card for a £10 annual fee that provides discounts in a range of independent outlets.

Members also qualify for a range of special offers, such as aromatherapy massage at The New Midas in Parchment Street, Winchester for £8 instead of £49.

Mr Cartwright said hundreds of people had already signed up, and they were hoping to break the 1,000-barrier soon.
