SHE is one of Hampshire’s longest serving magistrates, but now Anne Pearson has decided to retire.
She has spent 33 years on the bench, starting her service at the long-since closed Droxford Magistrates Court.
After it shut, she transferred to Fareham Magistrates Court as part of the South Hampshire Bench.
In addition to her work in the adult courts, she has been a member of the Family Proceedings Panel and has trained other magistrates.
She said: “It has been a huge privilege to have served as a magistrate for so many years. I have encountered many interesting people on both sides of the bench.”
Away from the courts, she lives with her husband, Frank, a Conservative Winchester city councillor, at Mayhill Lane in Swanmore.
“I would like to think we now had more time for enjoying our travels but that is unlikely as we are both so busy – and that is the way we like it,” said Mrs Pearson.
Earlier this year, she helped to organise the general election campaign that saw George Hollingbery become the Meon Valley’s first MP.
Her other duties include editing the Swanmore parish magazine and being a member of the Mayor of Winchester’s charities’ committee.
