STRIPY blazers, boaters and croquet were on show at the charity launch of the new ‘Champagne Afternoon Tea’ package at Norton Park Hotel.

The venue at Sutton Scotney near Winchester welcomed the deputy mayor and mayoress of Winchester, Cllr and Mrs Barry Lipscomb.

Around 35 other guests were also there to enjoy afternoon tea, sandwiches, fresh scones, pastries, and even the odd glass of bubbly.

A charity raffle in aid of Asthma UK, one of the good causes supported by Norton Park, raised more than £100.

The event was also held to introduce the new senior management team that will oversee the venue.

It includes regional general manager Michael Knox-Johnston, director of sales Tania Wheeldon and regional events manager Robyn Knights. Mr Knox-Johnston said: “The launch of our Champagne Afternoon Tea was a great opportunity to raise money for charity and to showcase the hotel as well as meet a number of key people from the local area.

“We really wanted to recreate the magical atmosphere of a bygone era with our blazers and boaters and a civilised game of croquet.

“I am relishing the opportunity to put Norton Park firmly on the map as one of Winchester’s top leisure, event and business hotels, not to mention an afternoon tea destination.”

Afternoon tea packages at Norton Park start from £19.95 per person. Call 01962 763000 for more details.
