A Winchester estate agent has launched a scheme to raise money for wounded soldiers serving in The Rifles.
Savills will donate a proportion of its fees to charity if current or former Riflemen sell a property through its Winchester office.
The estate agent said sums donated to the Hampshire-based Care for Casualties appeal would not be a fixed percentage but instead decided on a case-by-case basis.
David Pardoe, Savills director, said: “We’re not increasing our fees to enable us to do this – as that wouldn’t make us competitive – it’s a genuine donation to a charity we believe is doing vital work to support soldiers and their families who have risked their lives for their country.”
Rebecca Maciejewska, fundraising coordinator for The Rifles, said: “We aim to provide real support for these wounded soldiers so they can get on with their lives - be it providing a stair lift to a young man who has lost his legs, to funding counselling, and care for those suffering psychological trauma.”
Savills said supporters of the charity could also opt-in to the scheme by signing up at its office in Jewry Street, Winchester.
