A Winchester gym is offering free training advice to women taking part in the forthcoming Race for Life.
Gymophobics, a ladies-only gym on City Road, wants to help people planning to take part in the Winchester Race for Life on June 13.
Manager, Chloe Russell, said: “We realised that our approach to women’s health and fitness is very similar to the logic behind Race for Life which, as they say on their website, is a “successful event because it is a unique opportunity for women to come together in a non-competitive and celebratory atmosphere”.
“With cancer affecting one in three people in the UK many of our members, staff and their families are affected. So it seemed obvious to provide free training support.”
The training will be on Tuesday evenings, starting on April 27, and takes place away from the gym.
It will involve walking/running starting at an appropriate level for all participants and increasing over the weeks building up to the event itself on June 13.
To register for the training and get full details people should call the gym on 01962-606060.
The free training is also being offered by Gymophobics at its branch in Southampton for its Race for Life on July 11. Both gyms are owned by Simon and Angela Lee.
