THE Romsey Show office is moving to new premises next to the showground at Broadlands.

After more than 30 years in its town centre home overlooking the Market Place, the administrative hub of the annual agricultural and horse show society is relocating to recently converted offices on the Broadlands estate.

The show will be exchanging its first and second-floor accommodation above Fox & Sons, estate agents, for a more easily accessible ground-floor office and meeting room that has ample free parking.

Said show secretary, Annie Carder: “It will be sad to leave the centre of Romsey because it’s lovely here, but we have to think of the benefit to the show and the society at large.

“We need to make the office more user-friendly and we hope that our older members will find it easier to visit us when we are on one level.

“In addition, there will be space for the four office staff to have their own desks, we will not have to lift everything up and down two flights of stairs and we will be just a short walk from the showground, rather than a 15 minute drive, which will make the set-up period for the show much easier.”

The new address will be 4, The Old Carthouses, Broadlands, Romsey, SO51 9LQ, a property which is accessed off Spaniards Lane. Telephone, fax and e-mail details remain the same.

The move will take place in the week beginning April 19, during which time the office will be closed.

An official opening ceremony to introduce members to the new accommodation is planned for Friday, May 7.
