Asbestos link to OAP's death

AN elderly man died as a result of prolonged exposure to asbestos, an inquest heard.

Former pipe-fitter’s mate, Anthony Fry, had regularly come into contact with the deadly mineral while he was working at the British Rail depot at Eastleigh.

Southampton Coroner’s Court heard that the 73-year-old, of Bassett Green Village, Southampton, had died of the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma, on October 26 last year.

Coroner, Keith Wiseman, recorded a verdict of death by industrial disease.
