A VILLAGE phone box’s door was blown off its hinges after vandals left a bomb in it.
Police believe fireworks could have been responsible for the blast, which caused extensive damage to the Durley communications facility.
It happened in Parsonage Lane on Tuesday (December 15) evening around 10.15pm.
“This was obviously a shocking incident for the local residents, who heard the loud bang from the street and reported the damage to police,” said Det Sgt Emma Barrow, of Winchester CID. “It is lucky that no-one, including the person responsible, was injured in this incident.”
“We are very keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed someone in the area at the time of the incident acting suspiciously, or has any information about who is responsible for this crime.”
Anyone with information should contact Bishops Waltham police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Those outside Hampshire should call 0845 045 45 45.
