Prolific writer comes to Winchester

THE author behind the television series, Hamish Macbeth, is coming to Winchester.

M C Beaton has written more than 100 historical romance novels, along with the adventures of the Highland policeman, played by Robert Carlyle.

She is also the pen behind Agatha Raisin, the Cotswold-based sleuth, recently played by Penelope Keith on Radio 4.

This year has seen the publication of her 25th Hamish Macbeth title, Death of a Witch, as well as her 20th Agatha Raisin book, There Goes the Bride.

Her visit is the latest in a series of talks by authors organised by newbooks magazine and P&G Wells bookshop, which are both based in Winchester.

She will be in conversation with newbooks publisher, Guy Pringle, at Pilgrims’ Hall in the Cathedral Close.

The author will discuss her life and works, and answer questions from the audience.

The event takes place on Tuesday, November 24, and tickets cost £7.50. Places are limited, so the organisers are advising people to reserve quickly.

Tickets can be bought from newbooks magazine on 01962 620320 or from P&G Wells bookshop in College Street.
