THEY celebrated their 20 th birthday with a giant cake covered in Smarties.
Around 40 pupils from the past and present joined in a huge party to celebrate 20 years of Ampfield Community Pre-school.
Guests including the Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Ian Hibberd joined in games of musical statues and musical bumps as part of the celebrations.
The Ampfield pre-school was founded by Claire Ludwell in 1989 and currently looks after 20 youngsters aged between two and a half up to four when they leave to start school.
Current manager Sandra Oliver said: “Considering we’re only a small rural pre-school and the fact that there’s not many kids in the village I think it’s really special.
“We rely a lot on children coming here from out of the area so we know that we have to have a good reputation to make people want to travel out to us.
“Everybody enjoyed themselves at the party, in fact I think everyone went home stuffed after all the food and the cake in particular, but it’s been a great day.”
The pre-school has 20 spaces available for youngsters, anyone interested in a place should contact Sandra on 023 8090 6955.
