More than a thousand preparing to run marathon to Winchester


With less than one week to go this year’s Clarendon Full, Half and Relay Marathon is due to be run again from Salisbury and Broughton to Winchester on Sunday.

With well in excess of 1,100 entries this year, the popularity of this event continues to grow.

Runners from all parts of England and Wales take part, attracted by the scenic, historic and challenging course.

Starting from the Godolphin School in Salisbury for the full and the village hall in Broughton for the half, it will be marshalled by the Rotary Club of Winchester.

Sponsored by Shentons Solicitors in Winchester, Up and Running, Southampton and sports shoe company Saucony, the Clarendon Marathon offers something for everyone.

T here will be possible delays where the Clarendon Marathon cross the roads at Broughton, Kings Somborne and there will be a road closure in Sarum Road between Sarum View Close and Kilham Lane between 12.30pm and 5pm where the runners complete their final leg into the back of Kings' school.

Donations from the proceeds will be made to many different charities in acknowledgement for people's help including the Rotary Club of Winchester, St John ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Chandlers Ford Scouts, Raynet, Eastleigh Lions and Fire Services charity fund.
