A CHARITY fire engine pull in Winchester that was due to be launched by model Lucy Pinder has been cancelled.

Firefighters and soldiers were to raise money for charity by pulling a vintage fire engine up the High Street this Saturday, September 5.

Crews from the North Walls station and instructors from the Army Training Regiment and Worthy Down base were to take turns to pull Boris from the Guildhall on The Broadway to the Buttercross on the High Street.

But the event has been scuppered by pressing commitments by the Army team. It is hoped it will be rescheduled in the New Year.

The event – called Heave for Heroes – was raising money for Help for Heroes that helps servicemen injured on active service.
