Kings Worthy sergeant marries
AN army sergeant from Kings Worthy tied the knot at the village’s St Mary’s Church earlier this month.
Sgt Simon Harmer, who will shortly be deployed to Afghanistan to serve with the Royal Army Medical Corps, married Marisa Goodman on Saturday, August 1.
The bride, a teacher at Shakespeare Junior School in Eastleigh, wore a white dress with jewel-encrusted upper bodice and a flowered decoration in her hair.
The bridesmaids – Marisa’s sister Joanna and friend Camilla Softly – wore dresses of deep rich lavender chiffon and silk.
Rev Alan Gordon, rector of St Mary’s, conducted the ceremony before the wedding party moved onto a reception at Winchester’s Wessex Hotel.
The newly-weds enjoyed a safari in Kenya for their honeymoon before returning home to live in Kings Worthy. Simon’s parents – Jon and Moireach Harmer – already live in Edinburgh Road.
