A WINCHESTER city councillor is urging villagers to note the registration number and livery of vehicles that they see being driven too fast.
Eleanor Bell said a refuse truck belonging to city council contractor, Serco, had “hurtled” round a tight bend on the A3090 Winchester to Romsey road through Standon, near Hursley, which is in her ward, on Monday morning.
She said she had rung the fleet manager, who had assured her that the driver would be “reprimanded”.
“There are many other waste vehicles which pass through the village and the hamlets en route, such as the rattling skip lorries that are mostly heading for the Veolia waste transfer site at Poles Lane, Otterbourne,” she said.
Mrs Bell is now urging residents to pass details of offending vehicles to her: “We must send a strong message to the service providers and managers that dangerous driving does not go unnoticed or unreported,” she said.
