A TEENAGER in Winchester was assaulted by a man brandishing a knife.
Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Cheriton Road, Fulflood, where an 18-year-old man had what looked to be a knife held to his throat.
At about twenty past midnight on Sunday, June 21, the victim was walking along the street with two friends when he was approached by a man who appeared to be drunk.
The suspect spoke briefly to the victim and produced a metal, silver object – possibly a small, black handled knife - and put it to his throat.
The victim pushed him away and ran off. He was not injured.
The suspect is described as: White; Aged in his early forties; 5 feet 9 inches tall; Large build, described as ‘podgy’; Shaved dark coloured hair; Wearing a white polo shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms and dark, square-rimmed glasses.
PC Daniel Hunt said: “This kind of incident is thankfully very rare and there is no evidence as to any motive for it.
“There would have been quite a few people out and about at the time on a night out, so we are appealing to anyone who saw the incident or saw the suspect in the area at the time to come forward.
“The suspect appeared to be drunk, so he may have been drinking in a local pub that evening.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Winchester police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
