A HELICOPTER crash landed in a Hampshire field last night.
The privately owned two-seater aircraft ended up on its roof in a field of crops off the eastbound A303 at Bullington Cross, north of Winchester.
Nineteen fire-fighters were scrambled to the scene just after 8pm (Sunday). No-one was seriously injured.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch, which is responsible for the investigation of civil aircraft crashes, has been informed.
Winchester firefighter John Jowitt said today: “The helicopter was on its roof when we got there with debris scattered across the field, rotor blades etc.
“It was on its way to Popham airfield when it came down. The male pilot just suffered minor injuries and the paramedics were dealing with him when we got there and the air accident people were just arriving.
“We made the scene safe and sorted the fuel leaks.”
Fire engines also attended from Sutton Scotney and Whitchurch.
