MEMBERS are needed for a new group that meet once a month in Winchester to discuss the Internet.

Winchester Web Scene are a group of web designers and e-commerce gurus who collaborate, share news and socialise at a local pub on the first Monday of every month.

The group organise their meetings via social networking site Twitter-a free social networking site that enables users to send and read other users’ updates.

Founding member Syd Lawrence, of Winchester High Street-based web agency Marmalade On Toast, said: “Our aim is to promote, connect, and inspire local web talent.

“There is a diverse range of members from freelance developers and designers through to members who work for multinational corporations. We discuss all the web projects we've worked on recently, as well as new technologies and projects that are coming down the track.”

WWS started out in October 2008 and now has 32 members – a mixture of in-house, agency-based and freelancer web designers, plus several marketing consultants and a freelance copywriter.

The group’s next meeting is tonight (May 4) from 7pm to 11pm at The Hyde Tavern, 57 Hyde Street, Winchester, For more information visit www.winchesterwebscene.ning.com or follow @winchesterweb on Twitter (www.twitter.com).
