TRADERS in a Hampshire village fear plans to build a new supermarket could kill off the high street shops.
The Hampshire Chronicle has learned that supermarket giant Sainsbury’s is planning to build a new store in Bishop’s Waltham.
Although an official planning application has not yet been made, the town’s parish council has confirmed that the supermarket recently bought land on the Abbey Mill site.
Supermarket bosses said they are looking at building a store on the site, but have refused to confirm how large the supermarket would be.
