MORE than 200 people helped raise money by walking the Watercress Line.
It was the 19th annual walk along the steam railway but few will have been in such poor weather.
One of those walking last Saturday was Eric Pavey, 92, a volunteer on the railway who walked from Medstead & Four Marks to Alresford, a distance of five miles.
Robin Higgs, president of the Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society, said: “It was a magnificent effort by everyone concerned, walking along a railway line is very different, and not the easiest of things to do. But I know from the comments made on arrival at Alresford, how interesting many people found it.”
All funds raised from the walk will help efforts to restore the No. 75079 Standard Four steam locomotive back to its’ former glory.
