A WINCHESTER church has been packed for revival meetings led by an American preacher and broadcast across the world on God TV satellite channel.
Roy Fields, 31, from Florida, has preached at the Winchester Vineyard Church in Bar End, drawing nightly congregations of several hundred for five nights ending on Sunday. Church leaders estimated the preaching drew a total congregation of well over 1,000 people.
The church has been delighted by the venture into spreading their message across the world.
Philip Tutt-Leppard, a spokesman, said: “This is the first time an American has done five nights like this. It has gone very well indeed.
“The coverage on God TV has been very powerful. It has had a lot of impact on people in the church.
“God TV is getting responses from people across the world, not just in the UK.”
Hugh Cryer, a senior pastor at the Vineyard, said: “We are thrilled that Roy want to bring their own par ticular style of Good news of Jesus to Winchester.”
