THE historic home of the Bishops of Winchester looks set to be retained.
A national review is taking place of the homes of bishops aged over 62 to see if they are still suitable for the 21st century.
The Church Commissioners had been reviewing the future of Wolvesey Palace, the seat of the Bishops of Winchester, because Michael Scott-Joynt is 65.
A Church of England spokesman said the Church Commissioners believed that the mansion in College Street was still suitable, and would be recommending retention to its board of governors on September 25.
