POLICE are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was approached by a man in a blue vehicle in Romsey.

Officers are appealing after they recieved reports of the incident on Saturday, May 4, between 6.45pm and 7pm.

The boy was walking along a path on Foster Way, where it crosses Chivers Way, when a man in a blue vehicle drove alongside him, stopped and spoke to him. The boy ran away and was not hurt.

A Hampshire Police spokesman said: “We have been in the area conducting enquiries and have been speaking with local residents who might have seen what happened. However, we want to ensure that we reach anyone who may have information, or doorbell camera footage, that could help with our enquiries.

“We would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man of the following description acting suspiciously: 
•    White
•    Aged in his 60s
•    Skinny build
•    Small amount of dark hair
•    Wearing a black t-shirt
•    Driving a dark coloured (possibly dark blue) vehicle, possibly in the style of a people carrier.

“We are also keen to talk to anyone with dashcam footage that was driving around the location at the time.”

PS Jez Boughay, from the neighbourhood policing team, said “The local community may understandably be concerned to hear of this report, and we would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to investigate the circumstances.

"Our officers will remain in the area conducting enquiries and patrolling. Please do come and speak to them if you have any information or concerns.”
