Winchester Rotary's Environment team gifted £1,000 to the local council's Community Solar Support Scheme.
Winchester City Council and Winchester Action on the Climate Crisis (WinACC) run the scheme, pooling funds from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Well-used buildings like village halls and scout huts are the prime beneficiaries. Climate officer Stu Mills revealed an 'incredible' response, far surpassing expectations. The money donated by Rotary will allow more community groups to receive expert support to fit solar panels on their premises.
Beyond the immediate benefit to community groups, the scheme will also boost local eco-efforts.
This donation follows previous successful collaborations between the Rotary Environment team and WinACC.
