A HAMPSHIRE garden fair has been cancelled one month before it was due to be held.

Bishop's Waltham Charity Garden Fair was going to be held at Wintershill Hall, Durley, but organisers recently announced it was cancelled due to waterlogged grounds.

The announcement was made on April 4, one month before the event planned for May 5.

A post on the garden fair's Facebook page said: “Please note this year’s Bishop’s Waltham Garden Fair is cancelled due to the waterlogged grounds at Wintershill Hall. So very disappointing.

“It is really disappointing, we all love doing it. Just need to let as many people as possible know.”

One commenter asked if the event could be moved inside to the Jubilee Hall. The organisers responded: “We are trying to see if there is something else we can do.”

The annual fair was going to raise funds for St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital. The event celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.

The event organisers have been contacted for more information.
