Autumn space in the city speakers named

THE autumn programme for the Space in the City events at The United Church in Jewry Street, Winchester, has been unveiled.

Talks lasting 30 minutes will be held from 12.30pm every Wednesday in October and November, except for October 29 during half-term.

The first event, on October 1, will hear Dr Alan Bailey investigate the consequences of living longer.

A week later the Rev Raymond Tomkinson will discuss disability, while on October 15, Dr Margaret Marshall, a retired GP, will focus on rediscovering faith.

The Rev Canon Michael Middleton of Westminster Abbey will take the stage on October 22 with a talk entitled Someday I'll Find Me'.

On November 5, Andrew Bradstock, director of the Christian Socialist Movement, will talk about older people in politics.

A week later, Lou Scott-Joynt, the wife of the Bishop of Winchester, and chair of the city's branch of relationship guidance group, Relate, will discuss marriage.

Seven days after that, Denise Murphy will give a talk about volunteering, and on November 26, Vicky Darling and Doreen Pearce will focus on poetry.

Entry will be free, although donations are always welcome. Sandwiches will also be available.
